My first experience as an artist was at age six in the first grade. I drew a picture of an airplane that looked three-dimensional and all the kids wanted one. It was then and there I knew I wanted to be an artist. Life has taken many turns. For forty-one years I have worked as a carpenter/contractor, and have consistently used my artistic abilities to provide custom work for my clients. I wished to be a full-time artist in a studio, and in many ways, I was, albeit not what I thought it would be. Yet I have happy customers; this is my artistic success.
Throughout the years I have needed to use my creativity beyond construction. So I made doll houses and custom log cabin beds for children, and when the opportunity presented itself during a busy life I would try to get into the studio and paint. I have won awards, I've had my work juried, and have been in several private art shows, yet it never seemed "fulfilling".
When my dad passed away, I needed to paint more. It became my healing therapy to soothe my intense grief and loss. My usual subject of work involves landscapes and wildlife, particularly bears.
I love what I do when I am in my studio. I hope my work brings you joy and healing, may you laugh and be happy!
